Sustainability in focus
Two open afternoon sessions on how international sailing events can drive sustainable change — on the water and in the middle of the city. Free, open to all, and held in English.
Alongside the racing, the World Championship Stage in the Race Village on Norr Mälarstrand brings together leading voices from the City of Stockholm, business, research and the sailing world. The sessions are open to everyone — spectators, sailors, residents and industry alike. No registration is needed; simply come to the Race Village.
Why these sessions exist
The World Championship 2026 is run in accordance with World Sailing's Clean Regattas sustainability standard, with the ambition of reaching gold or platinum certification — the highest international level. Sustainability weighed heavily when World Sailing selected Stockholm as host, and these two afternoons are where we show the work behind that decision.
Both sessions are held in English so that the lessons travel: what is said on this stage is intended to be useful to organisers of sailing events anywhere in the world, and forms part of Stockholm's contribution back to the sport.
