Visitor & Spectator Guide - Team Racing World Championship 2026

The Team Racing World Championship transforms Riddarfjärden into one of the world's most spectacular sailing arenas. All racing takes place just off Norr Mälarstrand, allowing spectators to enjoy world-class competition from the waterfront throughout the championship.
10–11 August – The Race Village comes to life
Preparations begin as the Race Village is built at Holger Bloms Plats on Norr Mälarstrand. During these two days, the race boats and event infrastructure arrive, and the waterfront is transformed into the championship venue.
Wednesday, 12 August – Arrival & Practice
Teams arrive and register between 10:00 and 16:00.
During the day the race management team carries out on-water rehearsals, including safety boats, race committee vessels and mark-laying operations.
Although no official races are scheduled, visitors can enjoy watching the preparations and experience the atmosphere as the championship gets underway.
13–15 August – Racing Days
Every morning from 07:00, the race management team prepares the race course and safety area.
The first race starts at 09:30, with racing continuing throughout the day until approximately 17:00–18:30, depending on weather conditions and the race schedule.
Over these three days, around 120–130 short races will be sailed on a compact race course located directly southeast of Holger Bloms Plats. Measuring approximately 380 × 350 metres, the course is exceptionally close to shore, allowing spectators to follow every manoeuvre from the quayside.
There are no scheduled lunch breaks during racing. The action continues throughout the day, making it easy for visitors to arrive at any time and experience continuous racing.
The Deck – Open Throughout the Championship
The Deck is open to the public every day, serving food, drinks, coffee and refreshments while offering one of the best viewing locations for the racing.
Each afternoon from around 17:00, After Sail begins.
This is an opportunity for visitors to meet sailors, race officials and members of the organising team, ask questions and enjoy the atmosphere after racing. (Competitors still racing will join as soon as they return ashore.)
13–14 August – Sustainability in Focus
The World Championship is more than a sporting event.
On 13 and 14 August, the World Championship Stage hosts open sustainability sessions bringing together representatives from business, the City of Stockholm, researchers and the sailing community.
Topics include:
Water and sustainable cities
Protecting drinking water resources
Sustainable logistics and recycling
Ports and clean water
Marine research and healthy oceans
Sustainable materials for sailing
Electrification on the water
Sustainable food at major sporting events
The sessions are open to all visitors.
Sunday, 16 August – Finals & Prize Giving
Championship racing begins as usual at 09:30.
The day features the decisive knockout races, including the Bronze Medal Match and the World Championship Final.
The Prize Giving Ceremony, open to the public, will take place immediately after racing, expected at approximately 16:00.
